Powerwashing and Weatherproofing
Our typical deck service involves a two-step process.
| Step One: Powerwashing |
When done professionally, powerwashing is a very effective way to clean a deck. This will take off most mold, mildew, dirt, and grayness. Customers should understand that powerwashing is not meant to take off grease and old stubborn stain (which may need stripping). The Deck Guy® is very careful not to damage your deck when we powerwash. Our customers are often amazed at the results!
| Step Two: Weatherpoofing |
The Deck Guy® takes pride in our detailed weatherproofing method, which sets us apart from our competition. All of our finish is applied with a brush or pad. We do not use a sprayer, which can be extremely messy and inconsistent. Hand brushing gives your Deck Guy® ultimate control over the weatherproofing. It also allows a heavier coat to be applied which means better protection from the elements. This superior method is rarely used by our competitors due to the amount of labor involved. At The Deck Guy® we do not mind spending the extra time to get the job done right, the first time.

Re-Decking
When a deck reaches the end of its natural life (12-18 years) we give our customers the option of replacing the deck surface and railing system while keeping the foundation in place. We call this Re-Decking. There are three different solutions that will satisfy the needs of all customers.
| Solution One: Wood |
Many of our customers like the look and feel of a classic wood deck. For those customers, we replace all old wood planks and railing systems with new wood.
| Solution Two: Composite |
For customers that would like the look of wood but desire a solution that requires lower maintenance, composite decking is the answer. Composite decking combines wood fibers and plastics to create a product that will not splinter, crack, or warp. Some composite decking may turn gray and will require a thorough powerwashing every few years.
| Solution Three: Plastic (Vinyl) |
This solution is for the customer who desires the least amount of deck maintenance. New rigid-vinyl planks and railings are made of 100% recyclable PVC compounds that don't splinter, crack, warp, fade, or change colors. The surface is slip resistant and avoids heat build up very well. The only maintenance necessary will be an occasional powerwashing to remove surface dirt.
